Guitar Volume Knob
How do i correct a problem with my guitar’s volume knob?
The problem with not only the volume but also the tone is that there is a lack of response. if you ease on the volume knob, the actual volume just hits full throttle. Is this something with the wiring or the actual hardware? Thanks.

The electronic component used for volume or tone controls is called a potentiometer. If the guitar is old, then you probably have dirt or corrosion in them. Go to Radio Shack and buy a can of contact cleaner. Open the back of the guitar and spray the cleaner into the vent holes of the potentiometers, rotate them all the way back and forth to dislodge the crud, then spray again to flush it out.
