Is metal lead guitar and a normal electric guitar are different things?

Is metal lead guitar and a normal electric guitar are different things?or its just some trick to play like linkin park on normal electric guitar.
I don’t have any knowledge about music and i am planning to learn on electric guitar this summer.Please help

The only difference is the way it is setup. People playing metal lead use extra light or super light gauge strings so they can bend the strings easier, finger-tapping, slurs etc… A normal electric guitar is set up for the average person with light to medium gauge string. Usually, a metal person would scrap the strings on a normal guitar to make it easier to play.

Secondly, the whammy bar is important and most normal guitars come with a standard or cheap tremolo system that can’t take the beating of a floy rose or a Kahler tremolo.

But as far as playabiity, chords, scales etc….they are both the same. What changes is the response of teh pick-ups, the ease of play and the fingerboard setup.
